“QUE SERA, SERA”— From Book Author to Host of THE DORIS DAY HOUR

Happy Spring to everyone—at last.  When a person writes a book, that author never knows where the book will lead.  I wrote DAY AT A TIME – An Indiana Girl’s Sentimental Journey to Doris Day’s Hollywood and Beyond, in 2007 and had no idea what the future would bring for me.  It has been a real adventure and a wonderful ride all the way.  The book is still selling at Hawthorne Publishing, “an enduring classic,” so the publishers tell me.

dayattimeTo quote one of Doris Day’s most popular tunes “Que Sera, Sera” – the future’s not ours to see, que sera, sera”….I say, how true!  Little did I think I would be hosting the THE DORIS DAY HOUR for all the world to hear over the internet.  Soon after my book debuted I met some of Doris’s adoring fans in Baltimore, when I was giving my “A DAY TO REMEMBER…DORIS DAY” talk.  One of them, Diane Thomas,  had connections with Keith Angstadt, who is the program director and engineer for Baltimore Net Radio ( mybnr.com ) heard worldwide with music from the ‘50s. ‘60s and ‘70s.  Keith was looking to expand his audience with special programs and asked if Diane and I would produce programs for a target audience. We agreed to do that.  I have been their publicity director for the past several years and have had the pleasure of speaking with a variety of celebs including: Larry King, Connie Francis, Mother Dolores Hart, Janis Paige, Rosemarie, Pat Boone, Jackie Joseph and others.  When Keith decided to do THE DORIS DAY HOUR, I was the natural choice to host the show which debuted September 2014 and airs monthly on the 2nd Thursday of each month with several encores.  Diane has been hosting THE CONNIE FRANCIS HOUR for the past several years and produces all our special programming.

Thanks to the internet, our music and special programs are heard worldwide and we hear from listeners from all over the world.  They love the music and especially the featured programs which include in addition to the ones already mentioned, THE ANNE MURRAY HOUR, MISTY MOMENTS with JOHNNY MATHIS and a series of “In the Spotlight” shows featuring Patti Page, Vikki Carr, Les Reed, Patsy Cline, Abba, and THE CONNIE (FRANCIS) CHANNEL.

I am most grateful to Nancy and Art Baxter at Hawthorne for believing in me and publishing my book detailing my dream-come-true story with Doris Day. As I begin my talks I say, “I bet you wonder how a young, star-struck girl from Indianapolis landed in Doris Day’s home?  Sounds like something that only happens in the movies, right?”  Well, it did happen and I enjoy sharing my story. You can obtain this book by clicking back to the Hawthornepub.com website. And—listen in. I to tell a story or two during my DORIS DAY HOUR on myBNR.com
