Enjoying My Own Doris Day “Sentimental Journey”

Doris Day

Mary Anne with some Doris Day Memorabilia

Little did I realize when I wrote my memoir  “DAY AT A TIME – An Indiana Girl’s Sentimental Journey to Doris Day’s Hollywood and Beyond”  a Hawthorne Publishing book, that I would be involved with Baltimore Net Radio an internet radio station with their “We Speak to the Stars” motto.  All I can say is that you meet the nicest, and often very interesting people, while on book tours.  Thanks to my friend Diane in Baltimore, MD, I have been working with BNR and really speaking to the stars!

Baltimore Net Radio is doing a tribute to the late Bobby Darin which will air in September.  I have had the privilege of interviewing his manager, band members, two biographers and a surprise guest!  Diane interviewed Connie Francis with her memories of Bobby and she  is working with us on this special which is a huge help.  Incidentally, we feature a weekly “A Visit With Connie Francis” which airs at 3pm (EST) each Thursday and is repeated throughout the week.  Just check our schedule for days and times.

On Valentine’s Day we did a special with Johnny Mathis who was absolutely wonderful, wonderful!  Last December we did birthday tributes to Brenda Lee and Connie Francis – back to back December 11th for Brenda and December 12th for Connie.  Two super ladies with incredible talent. We also did a tribute to Doris Day on her birthday this past April for the 2nd year.

Yes, the stars from the mid 20th century are wonderful and thank  goodness we have their great music to play for listeners all over the world.  We play the music where you can understand every word!

Speaking of great talent, you may just want an up-close and personal look at my former boss, the multi-talented DORIS DAY.  Yes, I had been a fan since age 10 and grew up admiring Miss Day…in 1967 I had the pleasure of meeting her thanks to a mutual friend and the rest is history…yes, Hollywood history, and I take you on my journey with Doris Day – the book is loaded with photos I have taken of Doris over the years while I worked for her and lived with her.

And YES, Doris Day is alive and well and enjoying life with her multitude of 4-leggers in Carmel, CA….don’t believe the tabloids!!!!
